EVS IN TURKEY: BursaFotoFest

Sabato 15 settembre, qui a Bursa, è cominciato il "BursaFoto Festival", un importante evento di livello internazionale dedicato alla fotografia. Il creatore/organizzatore dell'evento è infatti, un famoso fotografo di New York, Jason Eskenazi.
L'evento proseguirà fino al 21 settembre con esposizioni, proiezioni, slide shows, seminari che si svolgeranno nel centro della città e nella sede del Consiglio Comunale.
Io e altri volontari dell'associazione abbiamo partecipato alla "marcia di apertura" che si è tenuta in una delle principali vie del centro storico di Bursa, Cumhuriyet caddesi, per inaugurare l'evento.
Per le vie della città, sabato, c'era più gente del solito ed è perciò che ho realizzato l'importanza di questo evento artistico-culturale. Verso sera, nella sala congressi all'interno della sede del consiglio comunale, abbiamo assistito ad un intervista ad un noto fotografo, Ara Guler.
Ha iniziato la sua carriera lavorando come giornalista a Istanbul ed è diventato noto per i suoi scatti ad importanti e famosi personaggi del mondo dell'arte, dello spettacolo, della scienza ecc...
Davvero interessante! Dopo l'intervista abbiamo assistito ad uno slide show che riguardava una serie di fotografie su diversi temi scattate da diversi artisti tra cui anche un italiano, Ezio D'Agostino. E' stata davvero una delle esperienze più belle cui abbia preso parte fin d'ora, forse anche per il fatto che amo guardare le fotografie (oltre a scattarle) ed è stato un privilegio poter anche incontrare di persona artisti di calibro internazionale.
Infatti, Sertaç, che oltre ad essere il fondatore dell'associazione Bursanat lavora nel consiglio comunale ed è quindi, uno degli organizzatori dell'evento, ci ha gentilmente invitati ad un brunch la mattina seguente ed è lì che abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere personalmente non solo il principale creatore dell'evento ma anche altri artisti ed organizzatori.
Insomma è stato un piacevolissimo weekend e dato che il festival non è ancora concluso, spero nei prossimi giorni, di riuscire ad assistere ad altre proiezioni e/o seminari.

On saturday, september 15, here in Bursa, started the "BursaFoto Festival", an important international event dedicated to photography. The creator / organizer of the event is, by the way, a famous photographer from NYC, Jason Eskenazi.
The event will continue until September 21, with exhibitions, projections, slide shows, seminars will be held in some squares of the city centre and in the headquarter of the City Council.
Me and other volunteers of the association joyned the "Opening March," which was held in one of the main streets of the historical center of Bursa, Cumhuriyet caddesi, to inaugurate the event.
On Saturday, there were more people than usual all around the streets in the city centre and that's why I realized the importance of this event about arts and culture.
In the evening, in the meeting room inside the city counncil's building, we've seen an interview with a well-known photographer, Ara Guler.

He began his career working as a journalist in Istanbul and became known for his pictures to important and well-known personalities from the worlds of art, entertainment, science etc. ...
Really interesting! After that we watched a slide show that covered a number of photographs taken on different themes by various artists including an Italian one, Ezio D'Agostino. This was really one of the best experiences I've ever taken part till now, maybe because I love watching at photographs (in addition to taking them) and it was a privilege to meet personally international artists too.
By the way, Sertac, who is not just the founder of Bursanat but he also works in the city council and he's therefore one of the organizers of the event, kindly invited us to a brunch the next morning and that's how we had the pleasure to know personally the main creator of the event as well as other artists and organizers.
So it was a very enjoyable weekend for me and because of the festival is not ended yet, I hope in these following days, to be able to attend other projections and / or seminars.
