EVS IN TURKEY: Pre departure training for future EVS volunteers

Domenica abbiamo avuto una giornata interamente dedicata ad informare/formare i futuri volontari turchi che partiranno per lo sve.

Si tratta del cosiddetto pre departure training che è previsto (ma non obbligatorio) nel proprio Paese d’origine per tutti i volontari prossimi alla partenza per i loro progetti sve e sta nella loro organizzazione d’invio provvedere per questo.

Penso sia un’occasione importante e utile per loro al fine di chiarirsi eventuali dubbi o timori ma anche di riflettere bene sulle proprie motivazioni e sulle proprie capacità/limiti.

Quindi, io ed Engin (il coordinatore sve di BurSanat) abbiamo pianificato scrupolosamente ogni singola attività e ogni singola fase del training affinchè, questo incontro, potesse essere davvero utile per i futuri volontari.

Riguardo alle attività in generale ed ai soliti energizer/warm up/name games ho preso l’ispirazione dai training cui avevo preso parte in precedenza compresi on arrival e mid term evaluation ma non solo.

Ed è così che per la prima volta mi sono ritrovata ad essere al posto dei trainers e non dei partecipanti. Per la prima volta mi sono sentita come una vera “youth worker”!

E’ sicuramente stata un’altra grande sfida e non è stato poi così semplice pianificare tutto dal momento che fino ad un giorno prima neanche sapevamo il numero esatto dei partecipanti.

Però è andato tutto benissimo, i ragazzi si sono rivelati molto entusiasti, partecipativi e davvero motivati.

Anche se il gruppo non era numeroso ma composto solo da 6 ragazzi, hanno preso parte a tutte le attività con il giusto spirito e con positività.

Ed è per questo che la giornata (anche se io non ero nel pieno della mia forma fisica) si è rivelata davvero divertente e piacevole per tutti.

Sunday we had an all day long completely dedicated to inform / train future Turkish volunteers will leave for their EVS projects.

This is the so-called pre-departure training that is previewed (but not compulsory) for all the future EVS volunteers in their own Country and it’s up to their sending organisation to provide it for them.

I think it's an important and useful opportunity for them in order to clarify any doubts or fears, but also to reflect on their own motivations and their own abilities, skills or limits.

So, me and Engin (the EVS coordinator of BurSanat) we have carefully planned each activity and each stage of the training in order to get this meeting really useful for future volunteers.

With regard to activities in general and the usual energizers / warm ups / name games I got the inspiration from training in which I took part previously included on arrival and mid-term evaluation but not only.

And so, for the first time I found myself to be as a trainer and not as a participant. For the first time I felt like a real "youth worker"!

It has definitely been challenging and it was not so easy to plan everything because since up to one day before we didn’t even know the exact number of participants.

But everything was very good, the guys have been very enthusiastic, participative and really motivated.

Although the group was not large but made by just 6 persons, they took part in all the activities with the right spirit and positivity.

And that's why (although I didn’t feel myself very good) that day has been really fun and enjoyable for everybody.
